We have been secretly working with Burnley Football Club and Burnley College to sneak some supporters into the James Hargreaves Stand at Turf Moor.
As James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot is based in Burnley, a large majority of our staff in Burnley are lifelong fans of the Clarets. Turf Moor can be seen from our premises, and during 2020/2021 we all felt really sad to see the ground empty on matchdays.
So we came up with an idea! We wanted to show our support for our club to help the team during the lockdown, but we were also conscious that it has also been a difficult period for young apprentices coming through.
Therefore, the idea of working with Burnley College and asked them if they could work with their design and construction teams to create something for our club and community.
We all thought that building supporters from plumbing materials seemed a fun thing to do and when we approached Burnley FC everyone really bought into the idea.
Using materials from our Plumbing Depot, the Burnley College apprentice plumbers set to work. Honing their newly-acquired skills to construct supports for the James Hargreaves Stand.
The figures include men, women, and children – even a baby – and also a sports commentator for when games are televised!
