System Boilers are ideal for homes with many bathrooms

The perfect choice for a busy family home with multiple bathrooms. System Boilers feature a separate hot water cylinder that contains a large amount of hot water, ready to be piped to multiple locations throughout the home at the same time.

A system boiler works in a similar way to a conventional boiler, except that it does not need a feed tank or expansion vessel to be kept in the attic as this technology is built into the boiler unit itself. It takes the mains cold water supply directly, heats it up and sends it to a hot water cylinder to be stored until it is needed.

Is A System Boiler Suitable For You?

A System Boiler may suit you if:
You have a large family and use multiple taps at once
You live in a property with multiple bathrooms
You are replacing a conventional boiler

Advantages of A System Boiler:

- Instant hot water is available straight from the hot water cylinder
- A cold water header tank is NOT required in the loft
- More than one tap, shower or outlet, in general, can be run at the same time with no effect on water pressure and flow
- System Boilers are the perfect solution when replacing a Conventional open vented heating boiler system as many of the components needed for a heating system are already built into a system boiler. Making them fairly straightforward to install
- These systems can support a backup immersion heater within the hot water cylinder
- They are compatible with solar thermal

Disadvantages of a System Boiler:

- Not as compact as a combi boiler; Unlike a combi boiler, a system boiler requires a hot water storage tank, making it far less compact.
- Hot water tank heat loss -Any hot water created will be kept in a hot water storage tank until it's needed. During this time heat will be lost depending on how well insulated it is. Modern water storage cylinders are insulated well.
- more space is needed for the storage cylinder
- You can be limited by the size of your hot water tank; With a system boiler, you can only use as much hot water as your storage tank can hold. If you require more you must then wait for your boiler to heat it again, and this is usually on a set timer.
